Kaumātua and kuia ask protestors to leave Ihumātao

On Tuesday 23 July, kaumātua and kuia representing mana whenua from Te Kawerau ā Maki, Te Ākitai Waiohua, and Tainui asked protestors to leave privately owned land at Ōruarangi Road, known as Ihumātao.

This video shows kaumātua and kuia reciting karakia as they walk towards the maunga of Puketāpapa a Hape, alongside other kaumātua representatives from the Kiingitanga movement, Māori wardens, police and representatives of Fletcher Building.
